Postafrobeat is a genre, visual, sonic, and cultural theory founded by; and evolving through the collaborative practice of Dr. Emalohi Iruobe and Adey Omotade. It is a transdisciplinary praxis that reactivates the ethical and sonic energies of Yoruba indigenous belief systems through recursion, technology, and speculative design; remapping sound, image, and sociality across contemporary infrastructures.

“Post” here denotes  an ontological return,  rather than a chronological “after.”  Drawing on Yorùbá models of cyclical time, it signals temporal elasticity and  continuity through  indigenous wisdom and diasporic innovation to create  new aesthetic, cultural, metaphysical and philosophical territories.

As both a conceptual lens and a creative methodology, our practice spans sound, sculpture, installation, events, photography, film, zines, performance, and research- treating each work as an ongoing intervention that reverberates across time.
